Our Easter preparations actually started in Las Vegas ("Put her in my pocket" entry) when our friend Kathy, Mom/Grandmama, Isabelle and I went shopping for her Easter dress. The first store we saw was Gymboree who happened to have their huge $10 and $20 sale going on so we had to go in! We lucked out because this is where we found her dress; originally $42.50 but on sale for $20-you cant beat that! We also found matching socks and a necklace that wasn't for Easter but was something new to keep her entertained while we continued shopping. We went next door to this totally adorable foo-foo shop called "Along Came a Spider", filled with Baby Guess, Diesel, Juicy and all other kinds of high price name brand clothes for kids. Needless to say, I was dying! OK, I am going to get this off my chest....I mean really, as cute as it may be, $56 for a Juicy Couture tee shirt for a child?! COME ON! Thank you for letting me get that off my chest :) Now in the back of the store they happened to have some really cute dress up clothes where we came across a part of Isabelle's birthday outfit that we were missing (you will see it posted here next week) and it surprisingly enough, it didn't cost us an arm and a leg :)
OK, back to Easter....
When I picked up Isabelle from daycare on Friday afternoon is when our Easter officially started. Lisa had decorated pots and planted lily's in them for all of the kids and had "Happy Easter" on the rim and 4 pics of Isabelle decoupaged around it, along with her hand print. Needless to say, I teared up (I am such a sap for this kind of stuff) when Lisa gave it to me! I already have dibs on it going to my office.
Saturday morning with Isabelle in her bunny ears, she and I joined our friends Caryn/Mia and Sue/Sophia for our music class and then hopped over to Grandmama and Poppy's house for their HOA's Easter Egg hunt. I think Isabelle was more excited about the paw prints on the ground and seeing the other children than the games and the Easter egg hunt! And as she is still in the "yummy stage" as we call it, everything she came across seemed to go right into her mouth. With the 80+ degree weather we had that day, we didn't stay out too long but just long enough to see the Easter bunny, make a fruit loop necklace and get a few eggs during the Easter egg hunt.Easter Sunday was pretty laid back to say the least. With Poppy off to Canada for business (and to freeze his tush off), Grandmama, Nana, Isabelle and I went to church while Micheal stayed home to get lunch ready. She was really good for us in church but I had the nursery escape route all planned out just in case. At church we saw our friends the Mangione's who we saw yesterday in music class, boogied to the music each time we sang and Isabelle decided to interject her our own sermon while Pastor Joe was speaking; "dah? dah, dah dah!". We went back to our house for lunch and Isabelle played a little with some eggs and a click clack pull along phone (totally old school) that Grandmama and Poppy had bought Isabelle for Easter.
Michael had a vision for the rest of the afternoon so after lunch and Grandmama took Nana home, Michael and I got Isabelle back into her Easter dress and her ponytails back in and walked over to the park for what we called Isabelle's "Easter photo shoot". We had her on a blanket in the flowers, chasing her dog over a wooden bridge; which she kept going back and forth on because she loved the noise it made, and back to the park walking around all over the huge lot of grass. What a great way to end our day!
Happy Easter everyone!
